US private equity firm TPG yesterday agreed to a tie-up with Sudanese billionaire Mo Ibrahim’s Satya Capital, to invest in African companies looking to expand in Africa and globally. TPG would invest up to $1 billion (R12bn) in Africa via a partnership with Satya, a person familiar with the matter said this week. “The firms will focus on investments in a broad range of industries including health care, TMT, consumer and financial services,” TPG Growth said. Satya’s founding chairman, Mo Ibrahim, said the African economy was just starting to realise its potential. –

Mo is an excellent Entrepreneur and very good philanthropist. I hope the African leaders in Ethiopia, Ghana and others with high GDP open their markets to this fantastic African guy. I once worked in his company Celtel and can witness, how great guy he is.
